Spain 15: That’s all folks

Mar 28th, 2010 Posted in Spain Trip | No Comments »

It’s taken me far long than I’m proud of (3 months), but I’m fairly satisfied that I’ve covered off my favourite aspects of our three week adventure through Spain. Of course I missed things like the buskers in Madrid, the giant churros that you dip in ridiculously thick hot chocolate, the old baroque music we heard in a little tavern in Seville, the outside Ronda, and the amazing bull rings. Just to mention a few things.

You can see all of my pictures from the trip in the slide show below, or check out the set on Flickr. I hope you can enjoy the pictures and stories at least half as much as I enjoyed living them!

Going big

snow in the trees

Inspired by The Big Picture, I’m changing the layout of Questing for Adventure to have much larger photos, like the one you see above. It’s one of my favourite pictures that I’ve taken, but it just doesn’t look that good small. I hope that you all enjoy them as much as I enjoy sharing them. Also, check out the site as I’ll be going back through some old posts and cranking up the size of the pictures on old posts.

Some pictures you’ll want to see

Dec 9th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

There are a couple of sets of pictures that have come out recently that set my mind wandering around the world.

First up is a post on Simon Seeks listing out some of the most dangerous roads in the world. Some of the are obviously roads I won’t be travelling any time soon (like Kandahar to Kabul), but there are some (like Perdikaki Road, Greece) that would be well worth a trip if you happen to be nearby.

The second set of photos are the contestants for the annual National Geographic photo contest. They’ve shown up a couple of places, but the places to check out the best ones are on The Big Picture and of course on the collection of winners on the National Geographic site.

Nothing like an amazing picture to make you want to see where the picture came from.

Best image of the Balloon Fiesta

Despite being the most photographed event in the world, I feel that pictures always fail to capture the majesty of the Balloon Fiesta. Willy Kaemena’s panorama of the special shapes rodeo starts to give you a sense of just how cool it is.

Run Chicago

Sep 25th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I like the feel of Chicago, especially the way that it opens onto the water. As soon as I arrived I grabbed my running shoes for a run along the river and then down the lake front. I enjoyed the run so much that the next morning I did it again, this time with my camera. The slide show above is from that run.
