Homeland

Jul 19th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Along with my parents providing inspiration to get me out and adventuring – the place where they chose to raise me also played a huge part in making me into the adventure junkie I am. Spending a minute and a bit watching the video above that I shot while back home for a week in June should give you an idea why. I was raised with a big back yard. Admittedly not all of it is really ours, but as a kid it was ours to roam around on, and that left me with the lust for climbing mountains and seeing what’s beyond the next row of trees. Cheers mum and dad., and thanks New Mexico.

Monday morning

If there’s anything that can make Monday difficult, it’s a video like this. It practically forces you see what airfare to Bangkok is looking like right now. Have a good week!

The Northern Sky

Nov 17th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I just saw this video of the northern lights, which reminded me of another beautiful video of the northern sky showing the endless sun. I’ve never seen either, and unfortunately it will require two separate trips up north to see them. But if these videos don’t convince you that it’s worth traveling just to see the far northern sky, then I suppose nothing will.

It’s not so secret

While I was in Viet Nam, I spent a couple of months staying just around the corner from a delicious restaurant – Com Nieu Sai Gon. It felt like our little local discovery, so imagine my shock and horror when I turned on the Travel channel in my hotel room this evening only to see Anthony Bourdain talking about Com Nieu Sai Gon. Yes, the place was absolutely fantastic and certainly deserving of major attention. But it is a bit sad to find that place around the world that felt like my little secret aren’t secret at all. I guess all we travelers have to share all the same magnificent little hide away spots.

What should I do?

In about a week I’m going to start travelling a bunch for work. I’ll in a bunch of different cities over the next couple months and I need to figure out something fun and funky to do in each place to commemorate the trip. I’m thinking something along the lines of the famous “Where the Hell is Matt?” dance video above. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but I want to see if I can gather some ideas from everyone else out there to see if there are any cool thoughts as to what I should do. So lay the ideas on me. What should I do?
